The Sales Rep - Grocery will develop new business targets, while maintaining and growing existing accounts. Markets may be in Grocery, Food Processing, paper and plastic disposable items, janitorial, and packaging supplies. Compensation package will include salary, bonus, company automobile plus certain business and travel expenses. The sales representative will build customer relationships, handle customer issues, inquiries and communicate effectively with all appropriate internal departments and personnel. Some overnight travel is to be expected.

Customers will include hotels, restaurants, resorts and other institutional establishments or individuals at sales office or customer's place of business. The Sales Rep will work in a fast paced and ever changing environment where attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, initiative and drive are extremely important to achieving company sales goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Increase sales through greater penetration within existing accounts
  • Develop new business targets
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales and margin goals
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service to build relationships and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Present new items, identify and close sales to existing customers
  • Work with manufacturers' representatives to sell promoted items
  • Attend sales meeting and meet with sales manager on a regular basis
  • Communicate and cooperate in a productive manner with all departments
  • Utilize all appropriate VIP (Dimensions of Professional selling) techniques and methodologies
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Professional Selling, Marketing, Business or related - preferred
  • Must have 2+ years of inside/outside sales experience
  • Ability to effectively plan weekly and daily activity directed towards targeted sales opportunities with the account manager
  • Effectively develop knowledge and skill levels
  • Computer literate in a Windows operating environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and AS400
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and maintains excellent follow-through and follow-up
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Work effectively in situations that involve change and/or competing demands
  • Perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient handling of all confidential and time-sensitive material
